Spring Concert 2013

The Green Mountain Youth Symphony (GMYS) presents two spring concerts showcasing all three of our Montpelier-based orchestras.

At 1:00pm the Repertory and Concert Orchestras will play a concert including a mixture of familiar favorites like La Bamba and Over the Rainbow and other classic and contemporary pieces. The Repertory Orchestra is conducted by Paul Perley. The Concert Orchestra is conducted by GMYS Artistic Director, Robert Blais. Admission to the 1pm performance is by a suggested donation of $5 for adults at the door. Children under 18 are admitted free.

 

At 4:00pm the Senior Orchestra presents a full-length program featuring Senior Soloists, David Fickes and Chantilly Larose. Fickes will play Saint-Saëns’ Introduction and Capriccioso for violin. Larose will present Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A. Other music on the program includes Bizet’s popular Carmen Suite No. 1, Sibelius’ Karelia Suite, Die Fledermaus Overture by Johann Strauss, Jr., Johann Strauss Sr.’s Radetzky March and contemporary composer Lee Actor’s Opening Remarks. Tickets for the 4PM performance are available through the Barre Opera House Box Office. Advance pricing: $15 for Adults, $10 for children under 18. Tickets prices at the door will be $18 for Adults and $12 for children, so purchase your tickets early! Ticket holders for the 1pm concert are welcome to join us for the 4pm concert at no additional charge. Simply present your ticket stub at the door.
